Fedor Konyukhov to cross Gobi desert on an all-terrain vehicle

Famous Russian traveler Fyodor Konyukhov plans to cross the Gobi Desert, TASS reports. he will be joined by the members of the Russian Geographical Society Alexander Yunanov and Igor Golovaty.

They travelers believe that it will take them two weeks to overcome 1,500 kilometers through the desert. They will set off on the Zubr all-terrain vehicles, which were developed specifically for extreme routes. This will be the first experience of traveling through the desert on this vehicle. 

The desert occupies the southern part of Mongolia and the northern part of China. The Gobi is famous for its climate - in summer, the temperature rises to plus 58 degrees, in winter it drops to minus 55 degrees. Przewalski's horse and snow leopard can be found there.

According to Alexander Yunanov, the expedition does not have a strict route, since there are practically no landmarks and roads in the desert. Travelers expressed hope to visit the valley of dinosaurs. The Gobi is home to the world's largest cemetery of ancient reptiles.

The start of the expedition is scheduled for September 11-12 in Dalandganzad, Mongolia and finish in Urumqi, China. Travelers will be accompanied by a technical support car with a supply of fuel.
