Putin: Russian language is powerful unifying force for CIS countries

Russian President Vladimir Putin considers the Russian language to be a powerful force that holds the CIS countries together. He said this at an informal meeting of the leaders of the CIS countries, which kicked off on Monday, December 26, in St. Petersburg, RIA Novosti reports. Putin recalled the strong connection that exists between the peoples of the CIS states. It is based both in a common history and spiritual roots. Vladimir Putin noted the deep interweaving of cultures and customs, values and traditions.

The Russian language is an important unifying factor for our multinational states, the Russian leader is sure.

Putin recalled that at one of the summits, it was decided to hold the year of the Russian language in the CIS countries in 2023.

Putin is sure that the expansion of cooperation within the framework of the CIS corresponds to the deep interests of the countries and contributes to the strengthening of security. In turn, the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, believes that the important role of the Russian language in the CIS is undeniable.

2023 was declared the year of the Russian language as the language of interethnic communication in the CIS.
