Moscow will continue the work aimed at the release of fellow citizens who are imprisoned overseas, Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov assured. According to him, the Russian authorities will make every effort to achieve this, TASS reports.

The Russian diplomat sent a video greeting to Viktor Bout, who was released from an American prison the day before, on December, 8.

The ambassador assured that Russia would not calm down until all fellow citizens returned home.

Russian Viktor Bout, who was serving a sentence in an American prison, was exchanged for US citizen Brittney Griner. The exchange took place at Abu Dhabi airport.

In the US, Bout was found guilty of conspiring to sell weapons and aiding terrorism. The Russian was sentenced to 25 years in prison. He was also ordered to pay a fine of 15 million US dollars. To date, the Russian served more than half of this term.

American athlete Brittney Griner was convicted of drug smuggling and possession.
