Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov's African tour has started in Kenya, Rossiyskaya Gazeta writes. He arrived the day before, on May, 29. Over the past five months, the minister has already visited Africa three times in preparation for the second Russia-Africa summit, which will be held in St. Petersburg.

Sergei Lavrov met with President William Ruto and his colleague Alfred Mutua. They discussed many important issues related to the situation in the international arena and future plans.

The Russian minister also noted that 2023 marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. He has no doubts that Russia and Kenya are anticipating the development of the existing potential in the areas of trade, economy, and investment. The parties agreed to actively assist businessmen in establishing direct contacts.

Earlier, Sergey Lavrov promised that 30,000 tons of fertilizers produced at Russian enterprises would be delivered to Kenya in the coming days. According to him, they will be handed over free of charge. The ship must arrive at the port of Mombasa. The Minister is sure that this supply is of great importance for Kenyan agriculture.
