Preparations for the celebration of the anniversary of Mikhail Glinka were discussed with compatriots in Germany, the telegram channel of the Russian Embassy reports. Next year will mark the 220th anniversary of the great Russian composer. This issue was raised at a meeting of diplomats with members of the Berlin Glinka Society, held at the Russian embassy.

During the event, an award ceremony was held for Yuri Fost, who is the founder and permanent chairman of the organization. He was awarded the badge of Rossotrudnichestvo "For Friendship and Cooperation".

Russian Ambassador Sergei Nechaev highly praised Yuri Fost's work. Yuri Nikolayevich, who recently celebrated his 90th birthday, worked a lot in the archives, where he was able to find previously unknown documents relating to the period of the composer's stay in the German capital and to his death. He also published new information about where, when and by whom the works of Mikhail Glinka were performed in Germany.

Yuri Fost initiated the installation of memorial plaques in places that are related to the Glinka's life and work. Thanks to Yuri Fost, information tabs have been placed on the street named after the composer.
