Almost 300 applications from 44 countries have been submitted to the online school of the St Petersburg State University.

The school is intended for children of foreigners. Its graduates will be able to receive a certificate of graduation from a Russian school for free. According to the rector of the university, Nikolai Kropachev, the university will finance their studies. He called this project very important because its goal is to help people who want to speak their native language, Russian. There will be 20 students in each class.

The school program meets all standards, it has no differences from a regular school, except for the format.

Most of the applications came from schoolchildren in Latvia, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan. There are also applicants from the USA, Britain, France, Germany, Spain, Canada and other countries.

The university is sure that they will be able to provide children with a quality education, which will become a solid foundation for continuing their studies at Russian universities.
