Russian athletes are discriminated against in international tournaments. Former tennis player, bronze medalist of the 2012 Olympic Games, Nadezhda Petrova, said that harassment occurs mainly at competitions in lower categories, R-Sport reports.
According to the athlete, Russians face discrimination even in small things. For example, the organizers refuse to pay for accommodation or do not allocate official transport.
Nadezhda Petrova called these Russophobic manifestations unpleasant, noting that athletes without sufficient experience may experience difficulties because of this.
The tennis player added that the attitude towards the Russians is better at high-level competitions. However, even there, athletes need to be prepared for various anti-Russian attacks. For example, refusing to shake hands or making negative comments at press conferences.
