The American authorities refused to issue visas to Russians willing to participate in the Asia-Pacific Cooperation (APEC) summit, Rossiyskaya Gazeta writes. The forum will take place in November, its participants will gather in San Francisco. The US acts as a host and grossly abuses its status.

For Russians, obtaining American visas to participate in international events has become an overwhelming task. Very often, Russians are not even connected to APEC meetings online. Washington no longer doubts that its visa rudeness will go unpunished.

In the spring, journalists who accompanied Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on a trip to a meeting of the UN Security Council in New York failed to receive visas. This step went without any consequences for the United States.

According to Russian ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov, the current APEC forum, where part of the Russian delegation was not allowed, is quite peaceful and deals, for the most part, with economic issues. But the White House seeks to politicize it, the diplomat said.
