20th Total Dictation will be held on April 20, 2024

The next Total Dictation is scheduled for April, 20, TASS reports. According to the organizers, in 2024 the large-scale educational campaign is celebrating its 20th anniversary.

The name of the author of the dictation will become known on September, 8. The announcement will be timed to coincide with International Literacy Day. Also on this day, voting will begin for cities that claim to participate in the Capital of the Total Dictation competition.

The annual Total Dictation campaign, designed to increase literacy and interest in the Russian language, was held on April, 8 in 43 countries.

The Total Dictation venues have opened in most Russian regions. The dictation covered 600 settlements in 77 regions across the country. The westernmost point of the project was the city of Svetly in the Kaliningrad region, the easternmost point - Anadyr.

The total dictation was also written abroad — almost 100 cities in more than 40 countries joined the campaign. For the first time, Cambodia participated in the dictation, Kazakhstan was the most active - dictation sites were opened in ten cities of the country.

The theme of the Total Dictation was the life and work of Vladimir Arseniev. The author of the text was Vladimir Avchenko, a native of the Far East.
