Next year, the flow of Chinese tourists to Russia is expected to increase by 30% compared to the current year. The Ministry of Economic Development of Russia suggested that in 2024 the country will host about half a million guests from China, RIA Novosti reports.

According to the ministry's calculations, about 468,000 Chinese tourists are expected in Russia next year. Compared to the pre-pandemic period, the growth will be 15%. This year, the predicted tourist flow from China will be 300,000 to 400,000 people.

The ministry said that in the past, 80% of tourists from China used a visa-free regime when entering Russia. It is expected that in 2023 the share of such tourists will be about 60%.

In pre-Covid 2019, the total Russian-Chinese tourist flow totaled about 4 million people. Since August, 1, the countries have launched a visa-free group exchange, and the first tourists from China have already taken advantage of this opportunity.
