A new parish of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) has appeared in Portugal, the website of the Spanish-Portuguese Diocese reports. It is consecrated in honor of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The first service in Sintra took place the day before, on September, 17. It was headed by Bishop Peter of Kafa, vicar of the Patriarchal Exarch of Western Europe.
The solemn service took place in the Catholic Chapel of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Mem Martines, a suburb of Sintra.
In August, a large community in Gabon joined the ROC. This happened on the initiative of African believers. The community applied to the Patriarchal Exarchate of the ROC in Africa with a request. In July, the ROC was replenished with a parish in one of the cities of Mozambique. Construction of a new Orthodox church has begun in Tanzania.
