Indian sailors will be trained in Russia to navigate Arctic waters; the training will be carried out at the sites and simulators of the Admiral Nevelskoy Maritime State University, located in Vladivostok, TASS reports.

The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways of India announced a corresponding agreement with the Russian side. The issue of training Indian sailors was discussed at a meeting between Indian Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and the head of the Russian Ministry for the Development of the Far East and Arctic Alexei Chekunkov in Vladivostok.

The ministers discussed issues of interaction between the two countries in the field of operation of the Northern Sea Route. The Indian department stressed that the Russian university has simulators for teaching ''navigation in polar and Arctic waters.''

In India, they said that in October the country will hold a discussion on ways to implement the Eastern Economic Corridor and cooperation in this area. Interested parties will be invited to the meeting.
