Forum of University Rectors of Russia and South Korea took place at St. Petersburg State University

Heads of Russian and South Korean universities met at a forum of rectors, organized by the Russia-Republic of Korea Dialogue forum, the Association of Leading Universities of Russia and St. Petersburg State University (SPbSU). The event took place online at the St. Petersburg State University site. Among the participants there were almost 50 representatives of various universities of the two countries.

The forum has become the10th in a row. Its participants discussed issues of training professional personnel, mechanisms for strengthening cooperation between business and universities. The topic of higher education reform was also touched upon.

According to the rector of St. Petersburg State University Nikolai Kropachev, the forum presents Russian experience in the field of university mergers, which responds to the request of colleagues from South Korea.

The Chairman of the Korean Coordination Committee of the forum, former Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Russia Lee Kyuhyun called the meeting large-scale and important. He is confident that the most important task is the ability of universities to respond to social changes in modern conditions. He said he believes region-focused universities should invest more in education to help talent contribute to local industries and communities.
