The 3d International Old Believer Forum is taking place on Thursday, December 7, RIA Novosti reports. Believers from all parts of Russia, as well as from Moldova, Belarus and other countries gathered in the Russian capital. There are scientists, politicians, government officials, and other experts among them.

Participants delivered reports and presentations on topical issues concerning the interaction of Old Believers with state and public institutions on a Russian State Library platform

The International Old Believer Forum is jointly organized by the main Old Believer consciences: Russian Orthodox Old Believer Church, the Drevlevlevlopravoslav Pomor Church and the Drevlopravoslav Old Believer Church of the Fedoseevsky concord.

"It's crucial to uphold and defend the unparalleled richness of the Russian language.," emphasized Metropolitan Kornilii of Moscow and All Russia, rector of the Russian Old Believer Orthodox Church, speaking to the forum participants.

The Forum scheduled to coincide with the 300th anniversary of the publication of Pomorian Answers, a pivotal theological work that emerged from the collaborative efforts of chroniclers within the Old Believer movement between 1722 and 1723. It is set against the backdrop of the Orthodox Church schism in Russia and the persecution faced by the Old Believers, and documented profound principles governing the interaction between the Old Believers and state power. The text delves into their stance on non-belief, their approach to followers of other religions, and emphasizes the Old Believers' unwavering support and loyalty to the Tsarist authorities, particularly Emperor Peter the Great.

"In order for Russia to continue to remain holy, we, the Old Believers, must stand as protectors of the Russian language, Russian culture, and traditional family values. Our commitment extends to refraining from judgment towards non-believers, staunchly defending our faith—Orthodoxy—and resisting international malevolence and violence," said Vladyka Kornilii.
