The International Organization for the Russian Language is expected to commence operations next year, as expressed by CIS Secretary General Sergei Lebedev. Currently, extensive preparatory work is underway, with the organization's headquarters planned for Sochi, as reported by TASS.

Let us remember, the treaty on the establishment of the International Organization for the Russian Language was adopted at the summit of the CIS heads of state on October, 13. It is an international organization with no commercial goals. It aimed at promoting Russian as a language of international communication, strengthening cooperation with public organizations. The new structure will promote the expansion of scientific and pedagogical base for the study of the Russian language. It will also assist in the translation of literary works and help with teaching aids.

Kazakhstan President Kasym-Jomart Tokayev initiated the creation of the organization, which was highly estimated by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
