Residents of Haiti, who received their education at Russian universities, try not to lose contact with Russia. According to Gene Roland Ely, who graduated from the Patrice Lumumba Peoples' Friendship University of Russia, the Association of Haitian Alumni of Russian and Soviet Universities includes about 700 people, TASS reports. The organization actively cooperates with leading Russian universities, establishes and strengthens contacts with the Russian Foreign Ministry and other Russian departments.

It is gratifying, the head of the Associatio noted, that the number of Haitians receiving education in Russia has increased. According to the quota allocated by the Russian government, this year about 50 Haitians received scholarships. Russian language courses are available for those who want to receive a scholarship.

Roland Ely thanked Moscow for making efforts to resolve the situation in Haiti. He called the current circumstances very difficult. The crime rate in the country is rapidly growing, said the graduate of the Russian university.
