High school students from foreign schools in Italy, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria and the CIS countries became winners of the 19th International Russian Language Olympiad for foreign schoolchildren. The competition was held by the Pushkin State Institute of Russian Language, the university’s telegram channel reports.

At the finals of the Olympiad, over 300 schoolchildren from 38 countries competed for the victory. The best were identified among students of schools where Russian is studied as a foreign language, and among children who study in Russian.

The list of winners included schoolchildren from Italy, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Armenia and Azerbaijan. As a reward, they received the opportunity for free training and testing at the Russian Pushkin Institute.

The Olympiad was organized to promote the Russian language as a language of international communication, increase interest among foreigners in learning the Russian language and studying in Russia, as well as to familiarize schoolchildren from abroad with Russia.
