St. Petersburg Museum of Political History Hosts Exhibition Devoted to Georgy Gapon – Organizer of the First Russian Revolution

An exhibition entitled Stormriser devoted to Georgy Gapon kicks off February 17 at St. Petersburg Muzeum of Political History, Baltinfo news agency reports. The exhibition marks the 140th anniversary of the first Russia’s revolutionary leader.

The exhibition comprises some 100 items, including rare photographs of Georgy Gapon and his family members, documents on the establishment and activities of the Assembly of Russian Factory and Mill Workers of St. Petersburg (headed by Gapon), and satirical cards depicting his activities.

According to the exhibition organizers, the exposition is based only on the key stages of Gapon’s life.

The exhibition is focusing on the events of January 9 (22 by the new style), 1905 – the first Russian Revolution (also known as the Bloody Sunday), which had been carefully organized by Georgy Gapon. Apart from that, visitors will be able to see documents on his activities outside Russia, and on his death in Ozerki on March 28, 1906.
