Traveling Exhibition on Yuri Tynuanov Makes Its Way Across Russia

22.01.2015

As a part of the project “Year of Yuri Tynyanov. 120” implemented by the Russian drama theater Yorick in the Latvian town of Rēzekne, the organizers have not only held an international festival of theater productions but also launched a traveling exhibition. The exhibition is devoted to the life and works of Yuri Tynyanov, from his birth in 1894 in the small town of Rēzekne (then known as Rezhitsa as part of the Russian Empire), which left an indelible mark on the further life of the famous writer, literary critic, translator, scholar and screenwriter, to his early death of multiple sclerosis in Moscow in 1943.

The exhibition was prepared based on the archival materials of the Latgalia Region Cultural Historical Museum, the Yuri Tynyanov Museum and the Pskov Regional Academic Library. The exhibition was first displayed in Rēzekne and Daugavpils, Latvia, before travelling to the Russian city of Pskov, where it is currently on display. The exhibition will continue its travels to other cities of Russia which are connected to the life of Yuri Tynyanov – St. Petersburg and Moscow. The project has been supported by a grant from the Russkiy Mir Foundation.
