Russian TV channel Katyusha launched in China

Russian Defense Ministry Katyusha TV channel has started broadcasting in Russian language in China, TASS reports. All TV programmes have Chinese subtitles. It is the first Russian TV channel in China.

The name Katyusha is not accidental. This is a name from a Russian song about young woman Katyusha very popular in China.
Channel One of Russia and Central Television of China have signed an agreement about its launch. Director General of Channel One Konstantin Ernst and Director General of CTV-Satellite TV Program Co., Ltd Du Hao put their signatures under this document at the Mass Media Forum of Russia and China this summer.

Launch of Katyusha became one of the most important results of cross-years of Russian and Chinese collaboration in the field of mass media. The heads of Russian and Chinese governments Dmitry Medvedev and Li Keqiang have summoned up the results.
From today and on, Chinese spectators have a chance to get to know Russian culture, science, customs and traditions. They will be able to watch the most interesting TV programmes of the Channel One from the golden portfolio of Russian and Soviet cinema.

The programmes will include feature films, documentaries, series and TV shows. A special emphasis will be put on tourist potential of the Russian regions. Much attention will be paid to stories about talented people who made a great contribution into development of Russia and TV programmes for children.
