Russian ice-skaters took 14 medals at European Championships

bookmakers24.ruRussian ice skaters were the second in the medal ranking of the European Championships, according to TASS. The competition finished on January 7 and took place in the city of Kolomna.

The medals include five gold, six silver and three bronze ones.

The highest awards went to Pavel Kulizhnikov and Ekaterina Shikhova, who were the best on one-kilometer distance. Another gold medal went to Denis Uskov. He was the best on one and a half kilometer distance. The Russians were also the best in the men’s and women’s team sprints.

Besides, Denis Uskov and Ekaterina Shikhova won silver medals. Angelina Golikova and Alexander Rumyantsev became continent’s vise-champions. The Russians became second in team pursuits. The bronze awards went to Pavel Kulizhnikov, Natalia Voronina and Ruslan Zakharov for the mass-start.

The Russian team failed to win just one competition out of 14. In the women’s mass-start Viktoria Filyshkina fell and came the 7th.

The best team was Dutch athletes.

The European Championship was held in a different format, medals were awarded for separate distances but not for multidiscipline competition. The participants were over 60 ice-skaters from 16 countries.
