Russian Classics in Latvia festival kicks off

Russian Classics in Latvia International festival opens in Riga today, on March 29, Baltnews reports. The festival held for the 21st time is supported by Russkiy Mir Foundation. 

Almost 30 theater groups from Latvia, Belorussia, Russia, Estonia and Ukraine come to Riga's Moscow House. Four troupes to perform every night for the audience and the jury. 

According to preliminary estimations, more than 10 thousand people will see the shows. Russian theater is presented by three troupes from Nizjny Novgorod, Penza and Saint Petersburg. 

Many of the stagings are based on Russian literature, including works of Marina Tsvetaeva and Alexander Ostrovsky. 

The award ceremony to take place on the last festival's day, on April, 7.
