Exhibition dedicated to the Red Army role in the WW2 opened in Knesset

Holocaust: Destruction, Liberation, Salvation exhibition launched in Israel Parliament, RIA Novosti reports. Its opening is dated with the Victory Day celebration. Documents telling about the role of the Red Army in liberating Jews, the Death Camp prisoners.

Among the displays the visitors can see the letter of the Anne Frank's father. He was released from Auschwitz with other prisoners by Soviet soldiers. «I was released by Russians... they took good care about me,» - he wrote in his letter.

The festive procession took place today in Jerusalem in the Knesset building. 

As we reported before, Israeli authorities supported the bill about official celebration of the Victory Day over Nazi Germany on May 9. The bill was approved unanimously. A gala session of the country’s parliament and the state memorial ceremony are scheduled at the Victory Day. The educational institutions will conduct commemorative campaigns, municipal corporations will open museum halls, which will honor the Jewish soldiers’ contribution into the victory.
