Eduardo Cruz from Guadalajara, Mexico, has recently received the Russian national award We Can Do It Together, reports Rossotrudnichestvo. He was awarded for his efforts in finding and giving back the Soviet medals to their owners or Russian museums. Over the last 15 years the Eterenal Flame project participants have been purchasing the Great Patriotic War medals in auctions all over Mexico and giving them back to their rightful owners.

According to Eduardo Cruz, it is a great honor for his team and himself to help the heroes’ descendants. He refers to the medals as an irreplaceable part of cultural heritage and a symbol of the great endeavor and courage of the people who fought for peace of the mankind.

Eduardo Cruz and his team have managed to bring 12 awards back to Russia. The latest ceremony of giving back Alexander Bondarenko’s Red Banner award took place in the Military History museum last autumn.

Now the activists are looking for the owners of 7 awards – 6 Red Banner medals and one Patriotic War medal.
