The final round of All-Russia’s contest for young readers The Living Classics is taking place in the International Children’s Camp Artek, according to the Russian Education website.

250 000 participants flooded from all over Russia to the final round of the contest. Only 18 people will have a chance to participate in the super-finals, which is to take place at the Red Square this June.

Besides, young Russian compatriots came to Artek from different countries. They passed the selection rounds in their countries of residence. A separate final round will be arranged specially for them. The winners will also go out to the main stage at the Red Square in Moscow.

The expert jury this year includes actress of theatre and cinema Elena Zakharova, Children’s writer Andrei Usachev, People’s Artist of Russia Andrei Sokolov and Rector of GITIS Grigory Zaslavsky.

The contest of young readers The Living Classics was founded in 2007 at the Institute of Russian Literature of the Russian Academy of Sciences. In 2013, the contest gained an international status. One of the main tasks of the competition is stirring up the interest in reading among the young people.
