Alexander Solzhenitsyn was absolutely right when he told about spiritual exhaustion of the West, as per Philippe de Villiers, the French writer and the politician. According to him, earlier Western countries were in essence stronghold of freedom, while today they are just hostages of the transatlantic power and consumer society's will, as RIA Novosti reports.

De Villiers has noted that the author of the GULAG Archipelago and Cancer Ward was telling about that during the monument opening ceremony to the Vendee revolt.

Several years ago the NATO alliance's member states served as a symbol of the free world, but today the situation changes drastically, the politician is convinced.

Now there is no revolutionary ideology any more in Russia, de Villiers has explained, and it is now a free world. In it's turn the West has transformed "into the colony of American political correctness."

He has also emphasized efforts of the Russian leader Vladimir Putin who tries to restore civil, cultural and spiritual life of the state. And thanks to it the Russian President has deserved huge recognition from Russian people.

De Villiers called nonsense the sanctions which were imposed against Russia: they tear off Europe from Russia, while Europe's future can't be solved in Washington. "Russia has to be a valuable link between China and Europe," — the politician has summed up.
