The European cinema star, Italian actress Ornella Muti will play the Russian Empress Anna Ioannovna in the Ice Palace performance staged in the Kremlin Palace, RIA Novosti reports. The play firstly introdused in Malta last year, then in Armenia will be held in Russia on September 10th.

According to the directors Alexander Somov and Ekaterina Mironova, the actress will play in Russian. Now a teacher trains her at home to learn the role in Russian. The directors do not doubt that she will cope with this task.

They noted that the plot is based on the story when the Empress decided to arrange a wedding for her court jesters. An ice palace was erected for it. But the authors did not seek to comply exactly with historical realities. The performance is an allegory, they say.

The artists of the Mikhailovsky and Bolshoi theaters Ivan Vasiliev and Maria Vinogradova will perform the roles of the couple in love. In addition, the Bolshoi Theater principal dancer Maria Allash and the Bolshoi Theasoloist of the Anna Nechaeva are involved in the performance. A composer Alexey Shor wrote the music.
