Estonian President Kersti Kaljulaid agreed that the Estonian school system is not fully adapted for the children who speak Russian. She said this during the meeting with the residents of Narva, a city with almost all Russian-speaking population, RIA Novosti reports. The President talked to people in Russian.

The head of state is currently working in this city located almost on the Russian border. According to the presidential administration, she moved there to show local residents that the Estonian society "is present in Narva and appreciates Narva". Kaljulaid will spend about a month in Narva intermittently.

As Russkiy Mir reported, Narva is the third largest city in Estonia. According to statistics, it has only two percent of the Estonian-speaking population. This negates all authorities' attempts to force Russian residents to speak Estonian.

Last year the authorities intended to increase the number of people speaking Estonian in order to solve this problem, they would set an example and promote the language. The authorities were going to resettle a hundred of Estonians into the city and to transfer several state and cultural bodies to Narva.
