A visa-free entry to Taiwan has been introduced to Russian citizens, TASS reports. Yet the regime is in a trial mode, according to the media. It will last for almost ten months. The decision comes into force on September 6 and will last until July 31. Russians can visit the island and stay there for up to two weeks without a visa.

The Taiwan authorities are convinced that this measure will boost the tourist industry.

Beijing considers Taiwan to be one of the Chinese provinces. Russia and the most of states recognize Taiwan as an integral part of the People's Republic of China (PRC).

As Russkiy Mir reported, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry Sergey Lavrov defined a visa-free regime as one of the key priorities of the Russian external policy. The Minister noted that now Russia enjoys visas-free regime with approximately a third of all the countries which Moscow cooperates with.

Nearly the same number of states have introduced a simplified visa regime allowing Russians to travel abroad much easier.

Meanwhile, Sergey Lavrov expressed hope for more active development of this realm.
