Donbass. Borderland film to participate in Rome Film Fest

Russian cinema is presented at the 13th Rome Film Fest which starts in Italy's capital with an opening ceremony on October 18, TASS reports. Over the years of its existence, the format of the film forum has been changed for several times. Now again it has become a platform familiarizing the public with world cinema and the best contemporary films.

Donbass. Borderland film directed by Renat Davletyarov is includes in a special program. Film tells about the armed conflict in the south-east of Ukraine. The script is based on real events.

Script author Aleksey Timoshkin says that four years ago he was in the very center of what was happening and was an eyewitness of the events described in the film. Eyewitnesses became the prototypes of the picture characters.

Gela Meskhi, Evgeny Mikheev, Anna Peskova, Uliana Kurochkina starred in the film. The premiere is scheduled for October 23.

In addition, film director from Denmark Thomas Winterberg shot a film relating to Russia called Kursk. The film is based on the story about the Kursk submarine tragedy. A famous actor from the UK, Colin Firth, acted in the film.

The festival is not a competition. It is the audience who chooses the winner.
