St Petersburg and Primorye are new venues of the International Theatre Olympics

The presentation of the International Theatre Olympics, which will be hosted by Japan and Russia in 2019, was held in Tokyo. Representatives of the organizing committee Valery Fokin (Russia), Tadashi Suzuki (Japan) and Theodoros Terzopoulos (Greece) told about the major events of this extensive world theatrical festival. 

For the first time in its history, the Theatre Olympics will take place in two countries (Russia and Japan) at once and will be the key event of the Year of Theatre. The activities in both countries will be held from June to November and will gather about 30 leading theatres of the world. 

According to The vice-governor of the Primorsky Region Konstantin Mezhonov, during the presentation it was announced that the region will become one of the venues of the International Theatre Olympics along with Saint Petersburg, AIF-Primorye reports.

The region will be visited by Alexandrinsky Theatre company, and world-famous theatre directors Tadashi Suzuki and Theodoros Terzopoulos will give their workshops.
