European Union and NATO from year to year are repeating their own statements on Crimea, Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs says. This is how the Russian department commented on Federica Mogherini and the Council of North Atlantic Alliance on Crimea and Sevastopol statements.

Ministry maintains the similarity of these statements commenting that West prefers not to believe their eyes. Five years ago, Crimeans showed the whole world what real democracy is. Over the years, a lot has been done to integrate the peninsula into general political, socio-economic and legal space of Russia. All guests of Crimea can see the successes achieved in this field with their own eyes.

The problem of electricity supply has been solved, and transportation to the mainland of Russia has been ensured. Issues of reliable supply of fresh water to the region are being solved. Social facilities, schools, kindergartens and hospitals are being built. However, Brussels prefers not to pay attention to it.

West is trying to achieve its own political goals, playing on the incident that occurred in Kerch Strait in the fall caused by Kiev’s regime provocation.

MFA Russia called the expansion of sanctions on our border guards, who participated in the suppression of provocative attacks of Ukrainian security forces, outrageous.

Support of EU and NATO fuels Ukrainian politicians who want to exacerbate confrontational sentiments in Kiev. This applies to statements about mythical militarization of the peninsula, and to fantasies about the alleged obstacles to the free passage of ships into the Sea of Azov.

MFA Russia recalled that NATO is actively militarizing the Black Sea region.

Brussels keeps telling that the situation with human rights has worsened in Crimea, claiming that this concerns the Crimean Tatars. Meanwhile, Russian, Ukrainian and Crimean-Tatar languages in Crimea have become state languages since its reunification with Russia. There are real opportunities for studying these languages at schools and universities.

Russian diplomats expressed hope that, over time, EU and NATO would cease to engage in politicking and listen to the voice of Crimean people. It is time to recognize the democratic choice made by the population of Crimea and Sevastopol and pay attention to positive changes in its life within Russia.
