The next year has been declared the year of mutual exchanges between Russia and the Republic of Korea. It is dedicated to the thirty-year anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations of the two countries.

This was announced by State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin during a speech at the first meeting of the commission on cooperation between the State Duma and the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, TASS reports. He also urged to speed up the signing of an agreement on the mutual recognition of higher education diplomas. This step will help to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the humanitarian sphere, the politician is sure.

The head of the lower house of the Russian parliament noted that it was very important to develop cooperation in educational and tourist spheres.

The speaker added that the visa-free regime, which was introduced back in 2014, had a positive effect on increasing the mutual tourist flow. Last year, the Russians made almost two hundred and fifty thousand tours to South Korea, which was five percent more than in 2017. The flow of tourists in the opposite direction exceeded three hundred sixty thousand trips, and the increase was forty-two percent.

Volodin called these numbers a good result. Ittestifies that relations between countries are developing incrementally.

The politician proposed to establish effective interaction between the parliaments of our countries to facilitate its implementation. Regular bilateral contacts and interaction at inter-parliamentary platforms give countries the opportunity to coordinate positions on urgent international and regional issues.
