World of Russian Theater Festival opens in Berlin

Eight productions in Russian with German and English subtitles will be shown in theaters as part of the 3rd World of Russian Theater International Festival of Russian-Language Theaters, which will be held in Berlin on June 6-9. The main prize will be assistance in organizing a tour in Moscow. The festival was included in the program of Russian Seasons, Berlin Telegraph reports. 

The festival program includes performances of theaters from Austria, Great Britain, Germany, Denmark, Israel, Finland and France. The 8+ Theater from Vienna will present a performance based on the Three Jokes in One Action by Anton Chekhov, Russian Scene Theater from Berlin will show the Chekhov's Seagull, and Xameleon Theater from London will show Diary of a Madmen, based on the story Nikolai Gogol and the diaries of Pyotr Tchaikovsky. 

The festival program also included master classes, round tables and creative evenings. Actors and Berlin public will have the opportunity to see the outstanding figures of Russian theater and theater pedagogy. 

Berlin is waiting for a teacher and director of the Vakhtangov Theater Vladimir Ivanov, popular actress Olga Tumaykina and other Russian guests. During the round table, the participants will discuss the current state of Russian theater, and the evening will be held in memory of Vladimir Etush. 

As Russkiy Mir reported, the 9th International Week of Russian-speaking Theater was held in Paris earlier. It gathered young artists from nine countries who showed productions based on fairy tales of Russian and foreign writers.
