German-Russian relations are discussed at Berlin conference

The German-Russian Relations in a European Context conference gathered public figures, politicians, journalists and civic activists of the two countries in Berlin. The organizers were the All-German Coordination Council of Russian Compatriots and the Union of Russian-Speaking Organizations of Germany with the assistance of the German-Russian Forum, the Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Russian Embassy. The conference was opened by Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergey Nechaev and Bundestag member Dirk Wiese, the Russkoe pole newspaper reports.

The conference, which has become an important part of the civil dialogue between Russia and Germany, has been held regularly in recent years. Discussions are held within the framework of the forum, participants make presentations.

One of the main topics of discussion was the role of the Russian-German dialogue in the life of Europe and the world. The discussion was attended by Russian and German deputies and diplomats. Bundestag member Roderich Kiesewetter spoke out about the need for cooperation between Western countries and Russia in solving world problems, and in particular in resolving the situation in Syria.

Russian speakers called on German representatives to help stop the demonization of Moscow in the media from high stands, to make more efforts to establish dialogue. The conference also discussed the situation in the Donbass, visa facilitation for residents of the two countries and the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Victory in Russia and Germany.
