The Russian Foreign Ministry promised that British media would see an appropriate response to Sputnik accreditation being refused. In such a way the Foreign Ministry commented on the reluctance of the Conservative Party of Great Britain to let Russian journalists attend the annual conference of the party. RIA Novosti reports that the Sputnik News Agency was not given accreditation to the forum, which began in Manchester on September 29. An application for accreditation was sent a month before the conference date. Nevertheless, the answer was received just before its beginning. Forum organizers declined to comment on their unfavorable decision.

The diplomats noted that the symmetrical steps would be taken in respect of the UK media. The Conference of Conservators, which are in power, is important as they will discuss the Brexit issue and the political crisis associated with it. It is planned that Boris Johnson, the head of government, will give a speech there.

A year ago, the Conservators refused to let representatives of the Russian embassy attend the Conference. Recently, the opposition Labor Party welcomed Russian journalists to their Conference.

As the Russkiy Mir reported, the organizers of the Global Conference for Media Freedom held in London this summer refused accreditation to both RT and Sputnik News Agency without giving any reason. Later the UK Foreign Office stated that they did not accredit RT and Sputnik for “spreading disinformation”.
