The memory of Soviet soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the country was honored in Slovenia, TASS reports. The memorial ceremony took place the day before, on July, 22, in Vrhnika. It was timed to the  anniversary of the formation of the first tank brigade of the People's Liberation Army of Yugoslavia. 78 years have passed since this event.

The commemorative event was organized and held by the local branch of the Union of Veterans of the Partisan Movement of the Second World War.

Miran Stupica, who heads the department, has no doubt that the heroes who liberated the people of Slovenia from Nazism will always be remembered in Slovenia. In his opinion, the two countries have fraternal relations.

Veterans held a memorial event in Trnovo on July 2. It was attended by Russian diplomats working at the embassy in Slovenia. Its organizers stressed that Slovenia honors and will continue to honor relations with Russia in the future, since the Red Army fought the Nazis on Slovenian soil during the war years. Thanks to the Soviet soldiers who fell in battles with the Nazis, Slovenes today can speak their native language, participants in the commemorative event noted.
