The ''World Peace'' monument, donated by the Soviet Union to Finland in 1990, has been removed in Helsinki. According to the Finnish media, the monument will be sent to the Helsinki Art Museum, its future will be determined by the authorities of the capital and representatives of the museum, TASS reports.

According to the official version, the demolition of the monument was caused by plans to rebuild Hakaniemenranta Street. The dismantling was carried out on August, 8 with the help of cables, after which the structure was loaded onto a barge.

The ''World Peace'' monument depicts people from different continents who raised the globe above their heads. The "Children of the World" sculpture, donated by Finland in response to the transfer of the Soviet monument, adorns the Moscow Friendship Park to this day.
