Russia occupies a leading position in the transformation processes that the world economy and finance are currently undergoing, Russian President Vladimir Putin is sure. He said this during a speech at the Eurasian Economic Forum, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reports.

The work of the forum began the day before, on May, 24. The leaders of Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, as well as the deputy head of the Armenian government, arrived in Moscow. All these countries are members of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

According to Vladimir Putin, the EAEU plays an increasingly important role in the modern world. He is sure that this is evidence of rapid changes in the world and that Eurasian integration is successfully developing.

More and more countries are pursuing a policy of strengthening sovereignty, and many representatives of the world community agree that a more equitable model of economic relations is needed, Vladimir Putin noted. At the same time, those who are trying to keep the current unipolar development of the world remain damage to the world economy, the Russian president added. They shoot in the foot not only themselves, but also those who have to follow their rules.

But this is their choice, said Putin. Russia is open to cooperation with those who want to work based on the principles of mutual benefit. In the West, they go to any tricks, use persuasion, promises, blackmail in order to make other countries stop cooperation with Russia. Western opponents do not care what losses this may result in.

The President also added that it was Europe that provoked the energy crisis. Russia has never stopped fulfilling its obligations. But in the West, they blew up Nord Stream 1, refused to launch Nord Stream 2, Warsaw blocked the Yamal-Europe gas pipeline.

The economic situation in the EAEU and Russia is not bad, although a year ago the West promised it a catastrophe. ''Nothing like this is happening, has not happened and will not happen again,'' Vladimir Putin stressed.

The EAEU summit will be held in the Kremlin today. It is planned that the leaders of the countries of the association will make decisions on further integration.
