Russia will build an industrial city in the northeast of Egypt. Enterprises, social infrastructure facilities and much more will be located on an area of 2 million square meters. According to the Egyptian media, Russia has already begun the first stage of construction, the Arab Africa telegram channel reports.

According to the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, it is planned to invest about $7 billion in the project by 2035. As part of the first stage, which has already started, it is planned to build infrastructure for the petrochemical industry, the production of railcars and the automotive industry.

The city will stretch on the Mediterranean coast next to the Suez Canal. The "City of the Sun" is planned to be built in two parts - they will be called Moscow and St. Petersburg. According to the plan, a statue of Peter the Great will be installed in the center.

The new city will have parks and gardens, schools, hospitals and other social infrastructure necessary for the employees of the enterprises that will appear there, and their families.

The discussion of the ambitious project started in 2014 at a meeting of the presidents of Russia and Egypt, and three years later the development of a new industrial city began.
