Russian short film named best at Shanghai Film Festival

The Russian short film The House We Lived was named the best at the 25th Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF). The film director Andrey Krechetov received the Golden Cup award, TASS reports.

The ceremony took place on June, 17 at the Shanghai Grand Theatre. The Russian director noted that the award was unexpected for him. Along with Andrey Krechetov's film, 12 other films from Europe, Asia, the CIS, North America, and the Middle East competed for the main prize in the category of short films.

The winner noted that The House We Lived In is his graduation work in the workshop of the Russian film director Alexander Sokurov. Andrey Krechetov completed his studies at the end of last year.

The action takes place in the director's hometown - Tambov. The protagonist of thefilm, a teenager, goes to study in Moscow. At the same time, he is haunted by family difficulties, and the young man is faced with a choice: to go to the capital for a dream or stay at home to take care of a loved one.
