The BRICS Games will be held from June, 20 to June, 23, 2024 in Kazan, participants will compete in 25 sports. This was announced at the Russia-Africa Economic Forum by Russian Minister of Sports Oleg Matytsin, RBC reports.

The minister noted that Kazan had confirmed its readiness to host the Games. The competitions will have an international status, national teams from different countries will be involved in them.

Last year, the competitions were held online, athletes from five BRICS countries competed in breakdancing, chess and wushu. The initiative to create the BRICS Games in Russia came in the spring of 2022 after Russian athletes were banned from many international competitions for political reasons.

Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko noted that Russia would be able to avoid isolation in the field of world sports thanks to competitions organized with the participation of athletes from the SCO, BRICS, and CIS countries.
