Russian team won medal standings of BRICS Games

The Russian team won the medal standings of the BRICS Games, RIA Novosti reports. They ended the day before, on October, 22. The tournament was hosted by South Africa. The national team has 59 medals, including 35 gold ones. 

Chinese athletes took 2nd place in the team standings. They have 55 awards to their name. The 3rd position was taken by the hosts of the tournament (51), followed by athletes from India (27).

The competition became the 5th in a row. Almost 500 athletes aged 19 to 21 gathered in Durban. They represented all the BRICS states  - Russia, China, India, Brazil and South Africa.

The tournament included competitions in six sports: tennis and table tennis, swimming, badminton, beach volleyball, sports for people with musculoskeletal disorders.

The next BRICS Games will be held from June, 20 to June, 23, 2024 in Kazan, participants will compete in 25 sports.
