Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) plans to open a branch in Guangzhou, China, TASS reports. The large-scale educational project will be implemented together with Xinhua University. The universities signed an agreement on cooperation within the framework of the Eastern Economic Forum.

Work will soon begin to create a legal framework, and the authorities will also select a site for the construction of a branch building. The first students will be able to start classes next year, 2024.

FEFU Rector Boris Korobets noted that previously the university mostly promoted cooperation with the northeastern part of China. Now active work has begun with the southern provinces. According to the rector, the FEFU branch will expand the range of language and academic exchanges between the two countries.

The branch will train highly qualified specialists in the fields of economics, management, international relations and biomedicine. Students will be invited to internships in Vladivostok.

FEFU is actively working in the field of international relations, strengthening its position as the flagship of Russian education in the Asia-Pacific region. The university’s international partner network exceeds 300 educational institutions, half of them are located in the Asia-Pacific region.
