Residents of Geneva have been invited to an exhibition dedicated to the art of ballet, TASS reports. The exhibition entitled ''Russian Seasons in Geneva'' opened at the TСarmine.Art gallery. More than 20 works by St. Petersburg artist Miron Zharkevich are presented there.

The exhibition aroused great interest among art connoisseurs. At the opening, singer from St. Petersburg Marina Morozova performed works by Russian and Italian composers.

Philippe de Bokar, who owns the gallery, noted that the name of the exhibition immediately reminds of Sergei Diaghilev, whose famous ''Russian Seasons'' at the beginning of the last century brought Russian ballet worldwide fame.

According to Philippe de Bokar, Russian culture, like the Russian language, has long become a part of his life. Without Russian culture, European culture cannot even be imagined.

The gallery owner also said that he had known Miron Zharkevich for a long time. He invited the artist to Switzerland a month ago; all the paintings were created in Geneva.

The 37-year-old artist, who teaches at the Pushkin Leningrad State University, noted that he was inspired by Diaghilev’s ''Russian Seasons'' in Paris to create a series of canvases dedicated to ballet.
