Trees planted in Egypt in memory of Russian soldiers

Tree planting ceremony was held to mark the Day of the Unknown Soldier in the yard of a Russian school in Egypt. Russian Teacher Abroad project participants and students of the school World of Knowledge in Hurghada dedicated the action to the memory of the perished Soviet and Russian soldiers, telegram channel of the Center for International Cooperation informs.

Russian Consul General in Hurghada Viktor Voropayev and the director of the Russian school Kristina Voropayeva joined the action. The head of the Center for International Cooperation of the Russian Ministry of Education Sergei Malyshev emphasized that the idea of the memorial action, aimed at immortalizing the memory of soldiers who fell for their homeland is relatable for both Russians and Egyptians.

Egypt regularly holds events within the Garden of Memory project and other events, honoring the fallen participants of the Great Patriotic War. Last summer, Egyptian and Russian volunteers planted trees and sang war songs as part of an event in a Cairo suburb to mark the Day of Remembrance and Mourning.
