An online tour of Gorky places was held for Chinese schoolchildren and students, the official website of Nizhny Novgorod reports. The city Department of Tourism Development and External Relations clarified that more than 100 children and young people who are studying Russian in educational institutions of Nizhny Novgorod's sister cities - Jinan, Hefei, Harbin, Wuxi, Zhuhai and Heihe, as well as in Blagoveshchensk - became participants in the project. .

The guests saw Kashirin's house, Gorky's apartment, and the square named after the writer. They were also shown Bugrov’s rooming house, which inspired the classic to write one of his plays, and the building of the former Public Library on Bolshaya Pokrovskaya Street, where Gorky first gathered children from poor families for a New Year’s party. Students of the Nizhny Novgorod State Pedagogical University  became guides to iconic places.

The city administration noted the keen interest of the Chinese participants in the work and biography of the Russian writer. Feng Yan, master's student at Harbin Pedagogical University, spoke about how Gorky's works are translated into Chinese. Representative of the State Gorky Museum Evgenia Utkina stressed that thanks to the high level of relations between the two countries, Russian writers are actively studied in China. She invited foreign guests to the Gorky Readings, which will take place next spring.

Nizhny Novgorod students have been conducting online excursions for Chinese peers studying Russian since 2021. They tell their interlocutors about Russian traditions and introduce them to the sights of Nizhny Novgorod. The project was organized by the Department of Tourism Development and External Relations of the city administration, Nizhny Novgorod universities and the Gorky State Museum.
