Moscow anticipates the CAS verdict on the Russian sportsmen, according to the Russian Newspaper. The court session was over and CAS took a pause before announcing its final verdict.

According to the Presidential Press Secretary of the Russian Federation Dmitri Peskov, there is no doubt that the court’s decision should be respected and well observed. The Presidential representative has reminded that Russian authorities have always stuck to this position. Moreover, CAS role is stated in the charter of the International Olympic Committee and other corresponding documents.

He has also explained that Russia will continue contacts with the International Olympic Committee on the expert level.

The court session was held in PyeongChang to review appeals by 47 Russian athletes not invited to the Winter Olympics, despite they had been justified by the court earlier. The final decision will be announced with 24 hours.

Note that appeals by Russian sportsmen with regard to the decision of the International Olympic Committee about lifetime bans from the Olympic Games have been satisfied. 28 people were justified in total. The athletes were accused of anti-doping rules’ infringements at Winter Olympics in Sochi held in 2014. 11 people more were justified only partially. The lifetime ban was substituted by miss of the Olympics in South Korea for them.
