Temirkanov's orchestra receives ovations in China

A standing ovation received St. Petersburg Academic Symphonic Orchestra at the end of its performance in Shanghai, TASS reports. According to the orchestra director Yuri Temirkanov, they perform not for the first time in China, and always warmly welcomed by the audience. 

Maestro has mentioned that before the concert organisers informed them that Chinese public is not as emotional as European one and not used to applaud loudly. However, at the very first concert in Guangzhou the ice was broken, and audience applauded very actively. 

As we reported earlier, St. Petersburg Academic Symphonic Orchestra went on tour to five biggest China cities - Guangzhou, Shanghai, Nanjing, Tianjin, Beijing. Musicians played Rachmaninov's Second Symphony and Third Piano Concert with famous Boris Berezovsky on the piano. 

St. Petersburg Academic Symphonic Orchestra tours coincide with celebrations dedicated to Yuri Temirkanov' 80th birthday. Maestro with orchestra is going to perform in Korea, China, Germany, Austria and Slovakia the next season. Just recently his orchestra toured in Switzerland.
