A coronavirus pandemic in Russia has reached a plateau, Margaret Harris, representing the World Health Organization, said at a briefing. She added that Russians still need to observe precautions when planning mass events, RIA Novosti reports.

A large number of new cases of the disease are still being recorded in the country. One of the reasons for this is that Russian experts conduct a huge number of tests on COVID-19, and this is a very good factor, the expert noted.

The WHO reminded that one of the most important preventive measures is maintaining social distance. The organization urges careful risk assessment and maximum security measures when planning mass events. Much depends on whether Moscow will be able to abandon restrictions on holding a parade on Red Square on June 24, experts emphasize.

About half of the Russian regions begin to some extent remove restrictions aimed at combating coronavirus infection and open up for tourists. The authorities of each region make appropriate decisions independently, taking into account the local epidemiological situation, the state of health care and the readiness of the business.
